How to Use Track Changes to Review Edits

How to Use Track Changes to Review Edits illustration

Track Changes lets you review every edit your editor makes. Learn how to accept, reject, and review edits in Microsoft Word.

Our editors return documents with Track Changes markup, so you can see every correction and decide what to accept. This guide shows how to use Track Changes in Microsoft Word.

This keeps you in control of your document.

Opening Track Changes

In Word, go to the Review tab and select Track Changes. You will see insertions, deletions, and comments marked in the margins.

Accept or Reject Each Edit

Review each change and accept or reject it individually. You can also accept or reject all changes at once once you are confident.

Editor Comments

Comments explain suggestions or flag sections that may need more work. Reply to comments or resolve them as you address them.

Stay in Control

Every correction is visible, so you always know what changed and why. Your document remains yours.
